Q: QuestionDoes the micrwave have metal racks for baking
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer Hi there, and thanks for your interest in our microwave! This model comes with two racks, one round and one square. One rack is intended for use with the convection feature, and will help you achieve great results by allowing air to circulate around the food as it’s being prepared for even heat distribution. The other rack is a cooking rack that allows for multi-level cooking simultaneously, to allow you to prepare large quantities of food. More information on the racks and tips on how to use them are available in the manual; if you’d like to view that, you can do so on our GE Appliances website by looking up the model number and going to the product page. We hope this information is helpful! If you have any other questions or concerns, we’re always happy to help, here or over social media. Best wishes! -Sarah@GEA

Q: QuestionCan this product be used over a gas stove?
Asked by KateinBelmont.
- A:Answer Yes, all our current over-the-range microwaves, including this model, can be installed over gas ranges and cooktops as long as the combined surface burner BTU rating is approximately 65,000 BTU’s or less. If the 66" minimum clearance from the floor to the top of the microwave is followed there will be no performance or warranty issue.

Q: QuestionCan you toast bread using the air fryer feature?
Asked by Carrie.
This question was asked about the related product: GE Profile - Profile Series 1.7 Cu. Ft. Convection Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Chef Connect - Black Stainless Steel
- A:Answer Hi - thanks for reaching out. This microwave does not have a toasting mode option. The air fry mode uses heating elements to rapidly raise the temperature of the air inside the oven. A fan circulates the heated air throughout the oven, over and around food. Air fry is not typically used to toast bread as it does not create the same results as a toast or broil element. We hope this is informative and please reach out anytime if you have any other questions. Take care. Lauren@GEAppliances

Q: QuestionWhat does the reset filter button mean when it turns red? What do you do?
Asked by ppdd.
This question was asked about the related product: GE Profile - Profile Series 1.7 Cu. Ft. Convection Over-the-Range Microwave with Sensor Cooking and Chef Connect - Black Slate
- A:Answer Hello - The Reset Filter notification light on the control panel indicates when it is time to change the charcoal filter. The indicator does not detect when the charcoal filter is dirty. This is simply a timed function to remind you to change the filter. The charcoal filter should typically be changed every 6 to 12 months, when it is noticeably dirty or discolored or when the Reset Filter indicator light comes on. For help with changing the filter, please follow the instructions in the "Charcoal Filter" section on pg. 28 of the owner's manual. Thanks for being part of the GE Appliances family. Take care. -Don@GEAppliances

Q: QuestionI am confused as to why mounting under a 15" cabinet requires a "special bracket," but if the cabinet is 13" or less in depth it does not require the additional bracket, please explain.
Asked by Chrissy.
- A:Answer Hey there and thanks for this excellent question. Microwaves should be installed in a 12”-13” deep cabinet, but the Bump Out Kit is available if you have a cabinet deeper than that. The kit is needed to bump the microwave forward 3” so that it aligns properly. Please let us know if we can answer any additional questions. -Gina@GEA

Q: QuestionIn these models what is the difference between the black, black slate and black stainless steel ? Is it just what the door is made out of ?

- A:Answer Hey there, and thanks so much for your interest in our microwaves! We’re glad to advise. If you’re referring to models PVM9179FRDS, PVM9179DRBB and PVM9179BRTS, those models are very similar and the main difference would simply be the finish/appearance. The ‘black slate’ is a low-glosse matte, metallic paint finish on steel, the ‘black’ finish is also painted over metal, while the ‘black stainless’ is a shiny finish that is applied and infused to stainless steel using a variety of tested application procedures. We hope this information is helpful. If you have additional questions or concerns, or wanted to ask more about a specific model, we’re always happy to help here or over social media.
