The exact same thing happened to my 3 year old model. Is this the life expectancy for this GE Profile model? Handyman relative thought he could replace fuse based on a YouTube video, but it turned out not to be the same model. Fuses in this model are unreachable. I really like the look of this microwave and am considering replacing it with the same model, but this time I will buy extended warranty. Last year I replaced a four year old refrigerator and a four year old washer dryer combo. I guess they just aren't making appliances with a long life span anymore.

If we keep replacing our appliances every 3-4 years and each household (currently 128million) in America replaces refrigerators, washers, dryers, microwaves, dishwashers and a few small appliances 5 times in the next 20 years (50 square feet of junk average for replacement)— the beautiful state of Rhode Island would be covered in junk!!! If I did my math correctly… think on that for just a moment when you look for good leaders for our government… we need to be united in saving the environment and consider everything that is polluting Mother Earth.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a GE Profile Model JVM290BV001.purchased in 1983 and moved from house to house since then. This week it shut down, nonfunctional, and so did my counter top .mircowave. I did not think they were on the same circuit, but they are. I unplugged both, turned the breaker off and on. Then plugged both in and reset them. PTL because my GE Profile costs at least $610, money I don't have for this right now. turn out my wifi service has been doing night time shut for repair and improvement of cables. These appliances shut down at 3:20 am. Call Cox wifi and was told that the shut down of wifi could have caused the shut off of appliances. I was already shopping for a new convection microwave. Glad my fixit worked before I went into debt on a replacement. Best Buy has PVM91790KBB for $510. Best price I have found.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. We have had the same problem twice. We replaced the first one thinking it was a fluke however, here we are a couple years in with the second one and it is tripping the breaking continuously. So disappointing. Would Not Recommend.....
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had the exact thing happen to my microwave today. It was only 4 years old and it tripped our circuit breaker. I'm happy to see this is a common theme with this product as I thought I was the only one. I'm sad they have this kind of defect though.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The same thing happened to my GE profile microwave. I repaired it at the 3 year anniversary and now 3 years after that it blew. I was told (after a $249.00 Sears service call) that it could not be repaired. Next time I will get a 5 year warrantee.

Reset the electronics by unplugging or by turning off power at the circuit breaker for 30 seconds or so. For safety reasons, we offer no do-it-yourself repair advice on microwave ovens due to: 1. Safety requirements due to high voltage (capacitor hold a high voltage charge even after it has been unplugged). 2. Complexity of electronic circuitry. 3. Special equipment needed to make diagnosis. We urge you not to attempt any microwave repairs including checking the fuse. At GE Appliances, our goal is to ensure your satisfaction, while offering the highest levels of professional service.
