Hello - Vinegar or vinegar-based cleansers should not be used in the Combo. Vinegar is acid based and can be caustic to certain materials used in the Combo unit. We do not recommend using vinegar in this unit. Kind regards. - Vikki@GEA

Please try again later.The acid in the vinegar will break down the drying components at a much faster rate as they are not designed for the acid concentration of the vinegar compared to fabric softener. The evaporative coils used for the compressor are aluminum; and yes aluminum does not rust however aluminum can oxidize once the protective film is removed. When the oxidation starts the fins will disintegrate transforming to a powdery dust. Do you have a water treatment system such as a water softener. I am on well water and I have a particulate filter with a water softener. We do not use fabric softener and so far with many wash and dry cycles from this machine we have not noticed “rough/stiff” clothing.
