“I need to vent to the left side. There was no cutout on the side of the dryer. Best Buy installation stated that I would either need to cut a hole, or have extra clearance in the back. If I need to side vent, do I need extra clearance in the back?”

Yes it will have to stand off the width of the vent line 4 inches as the alcove in the back will not help you. The installer for these guys would do that to you anyway as they will not use a foil flex line that works in the alcove. Had to do it myself
