The watch can access internet via WiFi as well. If you want to access the internet outside of wireless network you will need a SIM card to do so.

I did a search in the apple watch app store for Safari, Chrome and Firefox and didn't get a result. So, Apple wants me to access the internet through apps and not an internet browser. Second, you don't install a sim card into your watch. The sim card is part of the chip assembly.
