Hi Jane. You’ll need a phone to download the app to get started. BUT.. You don’t need your phone with you all the time to use it, it displays all the data on the watch. No need for a subscription either.

Hi, Jane. Not at all times, but features like Connected GPS and syncing your data to your Fitbit account requires your phone. More on syncing here: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1877.htm

Fitbit Premium is optional. Your device will work normally with or without subscription. You can check out Fitbit Premium here: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/2437.htm
