Q: QuestionDoes anyone use these with the Wasserstein POE adapter for power to the camera instead of using them on battery? Just wondering how that is working for you. I'm looking to replace these with my current POE cameras and use the existing cables.

• A:Answer The camera attaches via a magnet to the base. You just take it off the base and charge it via the provided short cable. The downside is that it takes about 4 hours to charge so the camera is unavailable in the original placement during charging. I purchased the optional cable.

Q: QuestionHow long can the camera record continuous video for while on battery? E.G. how long can it run a live video feed for?

• A:Answer From my experience you can not record or live steam viewing of it continuously unless it is hard wired with the power cord. On battery you will need to refresh it often to “wake” it. Also, if you want continuous (24/7) recording you need to pay a monthly fee. Otherwise you just get clips recorded of “events” when people are recognized by the camera. If you can use the power cord you will be happier with the performance. But from my research this is probably the best camera for streaming or live recording either way. None of them are amazing for that with just battery power.

Q: QuestionI had the Nest Cam IQ Outdoor. It automatically panned and zoomed upon detection of motion. In June 2021, I sought to purchase same model; however, I learned it had been discontinued. Is there a comparable IQ version which automatically pans and zooms?

Q: QuestionI see the Nest Camera Battery is rated to -4F. And the Nest Cam IQ Outdoor was rated to -40F. So my direct question is, can the Nest Camera Battery operate effortlessly to -40F if power connected by the waterproof cable?

• A:Answer I have the Nest cam battery which is wired and in cold temps mine stops recording. In the Home app I see recordings then for a time nothing. Sometimes it's a few mins while just a few days ago when it was pretty cold outside, the cam stopped recording which lasted a few hours. Not good for a security cam and winter just started. Not a big fan of this camera. I may not continue with my Nest Aware and just let it expire since they won't give you the money back for unused months. Ring doesn't have these probelms.

Q: QuestionWHY IS THERE ONLY ONE CABLE INCLUDED FOR A 2 PACK COMBO? serious lapse in security to have charge for 4-5 hours at a time and risk the other one going off....come on Google...give us two cables, and NEST INTEGRATION because Google Home is not good....

• A:Answer No. Nest Cam (Battery) has an ecosystem of accessories that will allow you to put it on a table top surface, plug it in outdoors, power it with Power over Ethernet (PoE), or hook it to a solar panel. Though it can run on battery power alone, you can keep your camera plugged-in, even outdoors, using the weatherproof cables (sold separately). Nest cameras and doorbells do not support direct connection to a transformer, and won’t work with wires directly connected to an electrical circuit.

The result is that I now have two “homes” because these new battery cams cannot get added to my existing setup. I have 7 devices on one home and these cams on the other. I am constantly switching back and forth between apps. It just seems so fragmented.

Q: QuestionHow do I know when the camera is charging? I tried to plug it in continuously (with the provided plug) - but I keep on seeing the battery going down. When I took it out of the mount and plugged it in, there is no light.

• A:Answer Make sure that when you plug the camera in with the provided cable, that the pins are connecting with the pin grooves on the camera plug in. If done correctly, the cable will be flush with the camera, and you will see a dot with a white light right above the camera lense.

Q: QuestionI'm seeing a 10 min cool down interval for notifications. If i leave my house and thief can enter 7 mins later without notification. Tell me this is configurable, else i will need to return these units. Giant security flaw for a security camera

• A:Answer Husband did install and did adjust the amount of time the cameras record events. I think it was done through the nest app. So far the batteries have been lasting quite a bit of time. Also very easy tl check battery life on the app.
