Yes, it can be left on indefinitely. It must be plugged in to an AC outlet. It does automatically reconnect as long as your network ID does not change.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have had mine for alittle over 3 months. I have mine on and recording 24/7. It will stop recording if the internet goes down but it will automatically start recording again as soon as the internet comes back up. Same with if the power goes out. I have gotten more than one alert within 30 minutes but I believe you have to ability to choose what type of notification you want to get (such as person, noise, and motion) and quiet times when you won’t get any notifications. I have all notifications turned on and no quiet time and the only time I have a problem with too many notifications is when the radio gets left on in the room all day. Any changes in volume can cause a new “noise notification” (such as a commercial/ad) The microphone is amazing (of course I have it set at max so I can hear whispering if needed) Sometimes it can pick up the tv in the next room even with the door closed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Our nest cam at the office has been on for over 2 1/2 years - If power goes out it reconnects to your wifi so long as the wifi settings are still the same

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Our Nest Cams are designed to be on and running 24/7 so these can run for years at a time without ever needing to be turned off or unplugged. If it loses the WiFi connection, it's designed to automatically reconnect once the network is available again. There's a cool down for notifications so you'd only receive a motion alert every half hour, however person alerts are every 15 minutes, and with Nest Aware you can set up zones to get notifications when different zones in the Nest Cam view sees motion.
