It really depends on the glare, resolution, lights around it, etc...outside during the day you can see clearly from about 30 feet at high resolution during the day. At night this goes down to about 10-15 depending on if there light outside or not (the more light outside the better you can see). Being mounted inside I would imagine you would lose 3-5 feet.

The room is approximately 18'X15" It's a great item if you have someone in the house that is a fall risk and can only walk a few feet on a walker. He is wheelchair bound. It's a great camera and has clear pictures and sound.
