It does not re-charge. It must be hard wired at an existing doorbell. If you go through the set up portion of the nest app you will be able to tell if your existing doorbell set up is compatable
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The doorbell has an internal battery (non-replaceable) that is charged via the two wires connected from the home. The battery is used to power the doorbell when you push the button since it looses power when the indoor chime unit rings.
