• Can install to existing doorbell wiring. Can be installed wireless must buy additional equipment.

• I believe in the instructions, which I’m sure you can find a copy of on nests site, it says it can still be wired but would just function as a regular doorbell. Which would be a waste to purchase in my opinion, unless you plan to put a transformer in later. The doorbell is great, I would recommend spending the time/money for a transformer if you want all the features.
