You don't need either Google Assistant nor Amazon Alexa. They definitely help you bring more coolness to this, but the Nest app on the phone is actually more complete than the extension through Google Home. Hope this helps.

Please try again later.The Nest Hello connects to your home Wi-Fi network through the Nest app, and no other devices would be needed for this to work as designed through the Nest app. Google Assistant is a works with Nest option, but not required.
