I don't think there's an advantage other than everything just comes in a single box. All of the Nest Protects will be interconnected through the Nest app regardless of when or how you bought them.

All Nest Protects can be interconnected wirelessly. Wireless interconnect allows all Nest Protects to talk to one another and let you know what’s happening in other parts of the house during an alert or Emergency Alarm.
