“Can an external power source be used, such as a plug-in USB to power these thrmostats? The heating system I have does not have a power source (or C wire). I currently use a battery operated thermostat that works great, but not WiFi capable.”

• Sorry I haven't tried using external power for thermostat. The furnish I have luckily has an extra wire that I can use for C terminal.
