Yes. You can choose what sensor the Nest thermostat reads from and it will adjust the temperature accordingly. I have mine set up to read different sensors at different times of the day. Example read the living room sensor during the evening and switch to master bedroom sensor at night while sleeping. I really enjoy the Nest system.

The max range of the sensor, which communicates via Bluetooth, is about 50 feet, but interference from walls and ceilings, etc, can reduce that. If one floor up, your probably be fine as long as it’s not too far from the location of the Nest thermostat.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It will control the temp based on the sensor/location you select. Example: you select Bedroom =74°. It will keep the heat on until the bedroom reaches that temp. Unless you can open and close your ductwork, the heat will continue going to the rest of the house....so the rest may be warmer than you want. But...you get up and change the selected room to living room. The bedroom will get cooler, but the LR will be whatever you select.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I bought a pack of three from Best Buy a few weeks ago. I have a two story home so there are two separate furnaces and two separate ACs. I installed one Nest Temp sensor in the living room, one in the M-BR and one in a BR. They made a huge difference in term of automating the Nest Thermostat. I set the Nest thermostat to start and stop the AC based on the temp. sensor. The house is much cooler where it is needed. The thermostat is regulated based on temp. sensor not the thermostat sensor, where it is installed in a cooler area. Prior to installing the temp sensors, I would have to regulate the Nest Thermostat manually if I want to cool the hotter area of the living room longer or cooler. But with the temp. sensor, the Nest Thermostat now is in self regulating mode; it turns on and off automatically according to temp. sensor temperature. I would recommend this product if you have Nest Thermostat installed in your home.
