Supposedly you can turn off the wireless radio in the modem/router combo. Depending on your internet service provider (ISP) you shouldn't have to buy a modem. Some ISP's don't charge for a good DOCSIS 3.0 or 3.1 modem.

We suggest disabling the Wi-Fi functionality of the combo or putting it in Bridge mode to avoid Double NAT as it may cause connectivity issues. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You can connect it to a router/modem combo. Use any Gigabit ethernet port. Ideally if you turn off the wifi on the other router it works best. If, not it will still work fine Thats how I have it setup.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Most modem/router combos, you can set it to bridge mode only and use a mesh wifi system, which is common from what you get from your ISP. I use the Netgear Nighthawk CAX30 - that's a little different, where it doesn't have a bridge mode option, and what you need to do is just turn off the wifi signals - the mesh system will mask the IP address coming from the modem.
