5G is very broad, it indicates fifth generation, but other than that, every service provider uses the frequency bands they have paid for in their service areas. Verizon is one of the originals, so there technology is different than many, in the FCC frequency auction they bet on ultra high Freq bands like 38-40 Ghz in order to provide higher throughput, but that is the total opposite of Tmobile who reused lower ranges like 600 mhz to 2.3 ghz, as a result Tmobile had the greatest 5g use immediately whereas Verizon had to install new cell antennas to make use of their range.
