“I have google internet service and my router in on our first floor. I opened an office in my basement which is finished and do get some wifi reception but sometimes it is slow. Would this device help get service in the basement?”

It will. The mesh network creates 3 nodes for you devices to connect, if you have one of the nodes in the basement, it will connect to that device instead of trying to connect through the walls.
