I bought a hero4 Silver from best buy and did not purchase the protection plan, but you do get a 1 year manufacture warranty from GOPro. Just make sure you save your best buy receipt and or register your product with the warranty card provided in the GoPro box.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It comes with a standard warranty. If it fails in the first 30 days, I'd exchange it rather than deal with warranty. After the 30 days, it falls under manufacturer warranty. As for fix it free, really depends. If it is still under the standard manufacturer warranty and it fails due to no fault of your own (ie: not abused), I'm sure it is covered. You may have to pay shipping to send it to them.
