It has a hardware based image stabilisation which will make video much smoother while keeping full quality video. Built in GPS for image and video tagging and speed, 2 inch touch screen, voice commands, waterproof up to 30 feet without a case, high quality stereo mic for sound that will be a lot better, and is a little smaller than it's predecessor.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There's also a cloud based service where you can send your videos without having to worry about running out of memory
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The voice command is a good example. No need to fudge with your cell phone to switch mode between video, photos, or timelapse. All you have to say is (assuming voice command is enabled) GoPro Start Recording and you'll hear a beep and it starts recording video. Say "Stop recording" and it will STOP. If you say GoPro Take a Photo, it will beep and takes a photo without you having to reach the shutter button or fudge with your cell phone. Image stabilization works great in some mode. It is not available in all modes especially above 60p. Linear FOV takes away the Fish-Eye distortion. Hero 5 is waterproof at 33 feet without waterproof casing. This is huge for me because i don't have to worry about it getting destroyed if all of a sudden it rains. Not sure if Hero4 Black has a monitor & touch screen but that's what i love about my Silver. The Hero 5 has that too but no more cumbersome menu. Its a lot easier to navigate and change your parameters. What i don't like is that they have changed the charging cable to something not very common or readily available like a miniUSB or MicroUSB. Its a special USB cable connector that you probably can only get from GoPro. THE BATTERY also has been changed to yet another kind and not compatible with the Hero4 Black/Silver or older units. Why do OEM have to always change something to make their product NOT SO PERFECT?
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hero5 is a huge upgrade. I have 3 Hero4 Blacks and one silver and after using the Hero5 I'm couldn't be happier! I will of course continue to use the Hero4 but will make sure to always have the 5 on me for personal and professional use. I don't have to worry about bring a waterproof case with me anymore and the Microphone quality is amazing especially since it is waterproof as is!!! Now having built in GPS and image stabilization just rocks and I am for sure going to utilize the new auto offload and cloud system they have come out to help organize all of my files, ( This has always been a big problem for me). Not to mention a built in screen and voice control which I haven't had the opportunity to use much of yet but can totally see the benefits of! I must say well done GoPro! I have been a longtime fan and you have blown me away again. The battery life is better but I am still going to buy a few extra batteries and the chargers as I never want to run out of power... I never was a huge fan of the session and just didn't see myself needing a camera with the lower video setting but my next purchas will for sure be the Hero5 Session and I'm excited to see what I think of that.
I would recommend:
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Huge difference. Better video quality, photo quality, linerar mode, voice control, 3 mics for better audio, waterproff without a case etc etc
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.TStabilization, ISO, Exposure, etc. It also has voice control and is waterproof without an external case and the battery lasts twice as long. It's a HUGE improvement over the 4.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This is waterproof to 6 feet and can capture 1630 resolution.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. There are major differences! Hero5 is natively waterproof to 10m without a housing. It has stereo audio pickup. There's a 2" touchscreen. It's voice activated, in 7 languages. Video stabilization and more.. Go to www.gopro.com to see all the other amazing specs. I can't wait!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Off the bat the GP5 is now waterproof up to 33 feet without any housing units. It will also have voice control and is a smaller unit than the GP4. Those are the 2 big differences but I haven't researched any of the specs yet. I'm sure the camera is better and will probably have an advanced image stabilization.
