Has been great for underwater
|Posted .This year I've traveled to Tahiti, Hawaii and soon I'm going to the Bahamas. I've made beautiful HD movies underwater swimming with sharks, sting rays and sea turtles. The images are crisp and clear. The videos look very smooth. It's easy to record underwater because the beeps are loud enough that you can hear it even while snorkeling and diving. I recommend buying the boom arm (which doubles as a floataion device) also, for water use. The only thing I had an issue with was getting used to the software and transferring the pictures/video to my phone. It tells me to use wifi to sync but it really uses Bluetooth, the instructions were not clear and it took me a while to find how to do it online. Overall excellent camera for action, underwater and general use. I take this anywhere I'm afraid to take my iPhone, its rugged and very high quality.

We Waited Two Years For This?
|Posted .I have owned all of the GoPros since the HERO 3+. For this generation of the their latest camera, GoPro broke their yearly release cycle and instead made us all wait two years before we got a successor to the HERO 4. Because I mainly use the GoPros as a B-cam on film shoots, many of the new features which GoPro added to the HERO 5 (GPS, voice control, electronic image stabilization, wide dynamic range photo mode, and auto cloud upload) are not really helpful to me. The occasional freezing is certainly not worth these features, but hopefully GoPro will fix that with a software updat down the road. The only new features which I've actually found helpful is the new LCD screen, the advanced ProTune options, and the RAW photo mode. I've yet to decide if the waterproofing is worth it (considering that if you scratch your lens you'll have to replace the lens rather than the housing the camera is in) but it seems like a nice feature overall. In summary, I'd recommend this camera to anyone looking to get an action cam as it is one of the best on the market despite the high price. However those who already have the GoPro 4 Black might not find the slightly gimmicky new features quite worth the upgrade.

Amazing little camera

Quality5 out of 5Value4 out of 5Nice little camera. Takes high-quality videos, the sound quality is also good. The wide-angle view is amazing. I took this camera to Barbados and it was the best decision, I got some amazing photos and videos of people. Places, beaches, and food. Check out my youtube videos at ..Everydaybados...

By far the best GoPro
|Posted .This is my first GoPro camera I normally use the Sony action cams mainly because it has similar color grading to my main Sonys I use for filming and image stabilization. I ride downhill mountain bikes and mx so IS was very important but for a helmet cam the Sony just wasn't cutting it. My main concern was there was no way to angle the camera so it wasn't pointed either at my visor or directly in down in front of me. I decided to give the GoPro a shot after seeing it finally came with IS and man I'm glad I did! From out of box setup the menu navigation is extemely easy, I can mount the cam underneath my visor and get a great angle of the course, IS works great, I can choose real slow motion at 1080 120fps vs the Sony only did 120fps in 720. Battery life is good so far not as good as my Sony but from what I've heard a huge improvement from previous GoPro's I just bought the dual charger that came with an extra battery so I have 2 and both seem to be more than enough for a few hours of footage I'm capturing. The GPS is a pretty rad feature my only compliant is they need to make it useable with their GoPro phone app you can only use with their desktop version. Overall I'm super pumped on the decision I made to switch to the GoPro I even bought a session 5 as a B roll camera. My only complaints really are the lack of GPS options in mobile app, and the pairing process to the app my Sony is a lot more simple maybe just something I need to get use to. Other than that extrmely happy with the camera and would recommend over any other brand hands down.

Excellent!
|Posted .I absolutely loved this camera! I bought it specifically for a trip to the Caribbean - Isla Holbox, Quintana Roo, México (highly recommend). I took it with me on our tour to swim with Whale Sharks. I'm sure the pictures weren't the best but you have to understand that I was just amazed at the size of these animals (this one about 20 feet!) and was just not able to be still enough to take better pictures. It probably doesn't help that I'm not an experienced or advanced swimmer in the open sea. The camera as well as the apps are incredibly user friendly for a first timer like me. I can't wait to take it on all my vacations from now on!

Go Pro - 2 killer features
|Posted .The GoPro hero 5 has two features that I find super useful. The first is the option to correct the fisheye distortion in camera and the second is the time lapse mode. Being able to correct for the fish eye lenses makes this a much more versatile camera. Now that the camera is sans protective case you are able to get much more usuable audio from the camera, too. Making the hero 5 conceivably a one stop shop for a video camera. To correct for the fish-eye lense just select narrow or linear within the field of view options on your GoPro. The second killer feature is the ability to create time lapses. I use the time lapse function to make hyper lapses of sunsets. It is super easy to use and automatically comes together within GoPro's editing software with no need to sitch the individual images together like other programs. I've got my go pro on the little gorilla pod ~$20. It makes the prefect tripod for setting up time lapses. Check out my YouTube channel for some sample time lapses xStevenx81. As normal the camera is awesome for everything sports. I would say that you can't go wrong with this little camera.

Much sharper images than I expected
|Posted .I bought the Hero5 Black to take on a snow skiing trip out west. Didn't know much about using it (still don't but I'm doing better). Used it 4 days, Bright sun and serious overcast with heavy snow. Amazingly sharp pictures in all conditions. Battery life was also better than expected: lasted easily for runs that I shot each day (charged at night), so we have a lot of pedestrian skiing that all looks the same. Used the head strap mount mostly. It helped to synch my phone so I could see the view angle of the camera while it was on my head before I started my run. Video stabilization was also an obvious benefit. Camera did all i could hope. I need to learn more of its capabilities and ski better.

First time GoPro buyer.
|Posted .Camera is overall great everyone knows this, but one thing the camera frame is not that great. it's very hard to unlatch, not have access for charge port as well replacement of battery without the removal of camera from this frame.

Q: Questionwhat's the difference between the GP4 & GP5 black? i'm not seeing any glaring differences between the 2.
Asked by cavedweller.
- A:Answer It has a hardware based image stabilisation which will make video much smoother while keeping full quality video. Built in GPS for image and video tagging and speed, 2 inch touch screen, voice commands, waterproof up to 30 feet without a case, high quality stereo mic for sound that will be a lot better, and is a little smaller than it's predecessor.

Q: Questionwhy is the go pro 5 cheaper than the go pro 4 black? shouldn't it be more since it is newer more sophisticated?
Asked by Liz.
- A:Answer It's to help keep it competitive to Nikon's entry into the action camera category. Nikons optics will be better than Go Pro's, and the quality and performance will be better. Now that people will have a viable option to Go Pro in this category, their pathetic customer support and service will have to step it up and actually stand behind the quality of their camera. Nikon has always been at the fore-front of photography, and their customer service is outstanding. Make sure you check out the Nikon action cameras before buying what will most likely be reduced to being used as a paper weight in a year, like my Go Pro cameras.

Q: QuestionI know its waterproof itself but Does it come with the case or the stick when you buy it? Or i need to buy those seperately?
Asked by Api.
- A:Answer The 5 comes with a case which is really a mount that surrounds the camera. Because it is waterproof without a case (complete separate housing unit) , it doesn't come with another separate case. There is an available case for deeper diving.

Q: QuestionCan I get a Samsung 128gb micro ad for the GoPro 5
Asked by VIP.
- A:Answer Of course yes but you should buy "Samsung Pro +" models because of the writing/reading speeds. Alternatives * Sandisk Extreme Plus Micro SD Cards * Lexar 1800x Micro SD Cards I hope it would be helpful :)
