Yes, the HERO5 Black has a rear screen that will let you see what's being recorded. If you mount the GoPro in a spot where it's hard to see the rear screen (like on your head), you can also pair the GoPro to your phone using the GoPro app. That way, you can also see what the GoPro is recording live on your phone.
