“I just purchased the remote. On this website it says that it is compatible with Hero 3+. The actual box, now that I have it at home, does not say that it is. The box says that it is compatible with Hero 4 and 5. Should I believe the box or website.”

The list on the box may not be comprehensive, but the GoPro Smart Remote is compatible with the HERO3+. However, with the HERO3+, the settings/tag button will not work with the HERO3+, but all other functions will work.
