No, you can plug the included charger into the bike with the battery installed.

It is not necessary to remove the battery to charge it, however I would advise that anyone charging to never leave it unattended. I am personally having a lot of issues with my hay bike which I purchased through Best Buy and both Best Buy and hey bike are pointing to each other and I'm stuck in the middle, can you answer my question, how do I resolve this matter?

No, there is a plug on the side to charge it. The battery is removable though and can be charged while removed.
