“Can it be used as a second speaker for my tv? Some shows sound is barely audible, then way too loud, and back to soft. Can this help keep the volume more even? The TV is in another room and volume must be louder than if it were nearby.”

My answer is assuming you have an Apple TV. If you don't have one, please ignore the rest, and the answer to your question is NO. If you do have an Apple TV: It depends on your setup. If you are playing something (audio or video) from your Apple TV (not mirroring from another device) then the answer is yes. HomePod will act as a second speaker if you choose it in the audio menu. If you are playing music from your device, you can choose both the Apple TV and the HomePod. If you are mirroring from your device to the Apple TV, you will only be able to hear audio from your TV only and not the HomePod.
