• The google home is an individual unit. It runs directly off the wifi in your home so it is independent of the phone. It also does not have bluetooth so you can't hook up and phones or tablet to it. What you can do, is through google cast, you can cast any music or podcast from your phone to the device. I hope this helps

• Works great with the iPhone, but it isn't just a bluetooth speaker for casting from your phone. It is connected to Wi-Fi, so the phone is just an added way of controlling it (similar to the Chromecast). You'll need to download the Google Home app to sync.

• The Google Home app on iOS allows you to configure the device to your liking. Apart from that, the device is pretty much standalone.
