“I am posted in Yangon, Myanmar. I tried to set up Google Home Max and it has trouble with the internet connection -- saying it has to log in -- I am able to stream Netflix and other sources. Any suggestions on how I can make it work here?”

You need a google account to set it up, in the initial setup one of the steps it asks you log in , if you don’t have a google account/email already then create one and then resume setting your googl home again.

If it has gotten to the point of logging in, it has successfully connected to the internet. It just needs to know who you are so it can access your apps, music, reminders, and so forth.
