This response would be fairly long if I were to differentiate the two. However, there are many videos like such that are on YouTube.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Google Home uses Google services and the Dot supports Amazon services, also the Google Home has a good speaker for playing music or any type of audio where the Amazon Dot should be connected to a powered speaker of some type. To get the same type of audio experience out of the box you need to compare the Google Home with the Amazon Echo, not the Amazon Dot.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I assume you would like it compared to the 2nd gen Dot. (The first generation Dot I believe requires Echo to work with it, the 2nd gen does not.) The 2nd generation does provide the ability to control lights and other smart home features. It does have a built in speaker so you can use it like an alarm clock or whatever. The speaker, from what I read,is not as robust. From what I can tell it might not work as well to stream your music or audio, but seemingly able to do most of the Smart functions that the Home can do. The same comparisons between the Echo and the Home count though. For example, the Home is more conversational- or in other words more forgiving of the syntax of the commands you give it. It also has the Google search engine behind it so is more robust and useful for that reason. It has less "skills" than the Echo... but I am assuming that Google will be updating regularly with more skills and eventually given the Google search engine behind it will eventually outpace the Echo in this area.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Echo dot's MIC is horrible, thats a deal breaker right there. I had a "dot" and returned it. The regular Echo is great, very similar to the Google Home.
