“What is the eer on these two models? and other questions I'm looking to purchase either the 10000 or 12000 BTU Honeywell Portable Air Conditioners that are for sale through Best Buy.com: Model Model: MN10CESWW or Honeywell - 12,000 BTU Portable Air Conditioner - Black/Silver Model: MN12CES Can you tell me what the EER is on each of these units? Also, will they plug into a normal household plug without overload? I see that they are 120 volts but I don't understand if that means they need a special dedicated plug or not. The room I'm trying to cool is about 600 square feet but I'm only trying to lower the temp a few degrees. Rather than trying to keep the entire house cool enough for my comfort during the night, I thought a portable air conditioner for that one room would be a good idea. I have an all house air-conditioner, but my bedroom is at the opposite end of the house and is typically 5 - 7 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. For this purpose, is the 10000 BTU unit large enough to work well? Or should I get the 12000 BTU unit? Thank you for your help. Jan”

PLEASE, GET THE 12,000 BTU. IT WILL BE MORE EFFECTIVE. I HAD BOTH AND PREFER THE 12,000!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Based on my experience, the 10,000 BTU unit (which we have) would be more than sufficient. It uses a standard 3-prong plug, but draws enough current that we blew a breaker at first when we had the portable A/C, iron, and vacuum cleaner all running at the same time on the same circuit. Do not know what the Energy Efficiency Ratio (EER) is for this unit.
