Don't know what Pro was talking about, furnace or thermostat not getting enough air. I doubt if the thermostat is not getting enough air so I'm guessing furnace. I would try running furnace without a filter and see if that works. If it does then I guess there might be something to it, if not either wiring error in thermostat or blue wire (common) which you need for power might be wrong in furnace. Since "C" isn't needed in a thermostat that is battery operated, then if it was a wiring error in furnace, it wouldn't have any affect on a battery operated thermostat, but would on new one. Also check if the new thermostat has settings (may have to look at manual) for gas or electric or heat pump. If that setting, if there is one, is incorrect could cause problems. If all of this is correct or doesn't apply I'm guessing the thermostat may be bad. Hope that helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hey Willema! The RTH6580WF thermostat is powered directly from your heating or cooling system. If the display is going blank it could indicate it is wired incorrectly or improper power is being supplied to the thermostat.
