• Comes with attachment hose that can be used for stairs if you choose. Might be a hassle constantly carrying the vacuum up each step. The vacuum isn't too light in weight.

• You need to use the hose and attachments. Ours does just fine.

• We have a multi-level home and I found it very easy to carry up and down the stairs. With my old vacuum, I had to prop the vacuum so it balanced just right to use the hose and attachments. I was pleased when I went to use the hose with this vacuum because I didn't have to do the balancing act, as the hose was plenty long enough.

• Doug, The vacuum is about 25 lbs, so if you are elderly or disabled, lugging this up and down the stairs may be an issue.
