Yes, this computer can handle the average school workload, however, it freezes up quite frequently (check the reviews) so be aware of that before buying. Also the one that got seems to experience some crackling when playing some audio, I returned and got another one but the problem still persists, so I'm not sure if it just a problem with this laptop in general. But these are somewhat minor issues compared to its price.
