Yes, upon initial start up the laptop will ask you to provide a PIN (any alphabetical or numerical input should work just fine) but I believe you do have the option to turn that feature on or leave it as is which is off. So to answer the password feature does not come mandatorily BUT you can add one (letters or #’s) if you wish.
