• Yes, this Chromebook runs off the Chrome operating system and not Windows.

• True. A Chromebook runs ChromeOS which is a lighter and faster operating system and is definitely NOT Microsoft. This particular laptop -- the HP Chromebook -- is fantastic in my opinion. I've been very pleased with it. It is fast. The display is larger and clear. The keyboard feels great and the touchpad has loads of shortcuts and functionality which I am still discovering.
