• yes its in sleep mode and all you have to do is tap the mouse once ..

• This is likely a screen saver, or the lock screen, yes. Touching/tapping/swiping the mouse pad should wake it back up. If it's the lock screen and you have a password, you'll need to enter it to get back in.
