Since it works in windows S mode and only works with apps bought from the Windows app store, does that mean I cannot use it as one of the 10 computers protected by my Norton 260 plan? I did not get Norton from the Windows store. null

That is correct. If you you want to use your Norton you have to disable s mode, but be warned, if you do so s mode will be disabled for good.

Honestly, you'd have to check with Norton's support team to see if they've got a way to apply one of the licenses to a computer in S Mode. Alternatively, you can take the computer out of S Mode by following the instructions at https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/switching-out-of-s-mode-in-windows-4f56d9be-99ec-6983-119f-031bfb28a307#WindowsVersion=Windows_11
