To keep the laptop in a slim form factor, the laptop does not have a built in CD/DVD drive. You can certainly however plugin in a USB external CD/DVD drive and you'll be able to play and possibly burn CD/DVDs if you have the appropriate drive type. You might also need the appropriate software to do both as well if you already don't have it. Window has basic drag & drop to burn which is basic as it gets...but for playback or more advanced burning options this is where the appropriate software comes in....hope this helps!! :)
