I have had wireless routers and also direct connect my modem to my PC. A direct connection from the router to your PC via an ethernet will actually get you faster Internet speed. It's not as convenient but your PC will or should run better.

You can use a wired or wireless connection with this device. For wired you would have to connect an ethernet cable.
