• The HP 48a black toner cartridge yields approximately 1,000 sheets; even if you are not printing regularly, there is no risk of the cartridge drying out because it uses toner, which is powder.

• The 48A cartridge prints 1000 pages. My current cartridge is approximately 3 months old. I am not a heavy user and have never had a problem with clumping or drying up.
