• The quality is the same, you just get more ink and don't have to change the cartridges as frequently. If you do a lot of printing it is a better value. HP63XL Black ink is good for 480 pages. The HP63XL Color ink is good for 330 pages.

• The one thing I was sure of was which ink I needed which is #HP63 or #HP63XL please verify facts before posting. But thanks for the rest of the info.

• The HP 3830 uses HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges. The Regular Black/Color yield is 120/100 pages. The XL Black/Color yield is 300/300 pages so about 3 times the ink and can print 3 times the # of pages.
