• You can purchase the 64 black and tri-color ink separately if you do not need both cartridges. If you need them both, you can get the 64 combo pack.

• You can buy both of the ink cartridges at one time if you choose to. However, you can also buy the ink cartridges separately if you choose to. You can decide.

• You have to buy both if your planing on printing in color, now if you want to save money and only going to print a few pages i would go for the regular packs, you can also buy this package that has both cartridges but at a regular amount.

• I buy both , cause I do print in color! But if you just print in black and white then just the black. Hope this helps
