“Will this printer print as vibrant and colorful on cardstock as it would photo paper? I have another less expensive hp printer with the same ink and when I print colorful pictures on cardstock, its rather dull. Will I get better results with this model?”

The issue isn't the printer or the ink-it's the paper. Photo paper is designed specifically to make the colors "pop", and if it's a glossy finished paper, to also have a sheen that makes the photo look good.
