“How many speakers are there? I ordered this and there seems to be audio only firing from the bottom. Are the there no speakers on the top? The opening to the left/right of the keyboard look like speakers, but have no audio coming out of them.”

Thank you for the question. The Envy 15-fe0053dx does not have rear speakers, it has dual speakers flanking the keyboard. You can adjust them in "settings". Note that this laptop also has HP Audio Boost so you can change the settings.
