Brand new out-of-the-box I receive a message that the ink cartridges need to be reinstalled. when I do so themessage continues and I can’t use the printer. researching this it looks like the firmware needs to be upgraded. Would someone confirm this ? null

You probably just installed them wrong, I put mine in and never had a problem, it does happen from time to time, but I would just try it again. Look at the little picture description and insert them exactly as pictured.
