All HP laptops go under rigorous testing to make sure that the hinges function as they should with several hours of being opened and closed as well as trying other formats depending on form factor. If for any reason you encounter issues with the laptop, you should contact HP Support or Geek Squad right away. It does come with a manufacturer's warranty and product quality is a big deal to HP.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I’ve owned the HP Envy 15m ds0011dx for roughly two years now and never had a problem with the hinge. I use it 5 days a week and open and close it no less than 4-5 times per day. It’s more probable that a hinge problem is the result of improper handling or an isolated manufacturing defect based on my experience as well as 4 other family members who have HP Envy laptops they bought at various times for college use. The last time I heard of HP having a widespread hinge problem and witnessed it myself, was about 10yrs ago.
