This can save documents in PDF or JPG format using the full HP scanning software. Yes it is compatible with a Dell Inspiron laptop.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This will scan single or multiple pages to PDF. It is very fast and seems to have good quality. If you go with default settings, your PDF files will be quite large as there is little compression during the scanning process on this scanner. I adjusted down to 150 DPI and did not notice too much quality degradation (there is also a setting for 200 DPI). I think it does a pretty good job at scanning to PDF. After the scan to PDF, I use Acrobat to reduce the file size (Document, Reduce File Size, choose Acrobat 9.0 and Later). This makes for a good manageable size for sending in email. Depends on what you need the PDF for. I use this wirelessly to print from my HP desktop computer and also my HP laptop. I don't see any reason why this would not work on a Dell Inspiron 15 laptop. Just my opinion. Setup was very easy on my desktop and laptop.
