- Answer You do not have to use the Instant Ink plans with this printer, they are optional. With Instant Ink you pay to print a set amount of pages each month. There are four different monthly pricing options, $2.99 for 50 pages, $4.99 for 100 pages, $9.99 for 300 pages and $19.99 for 700 pages. HP will send you ink as you need it while you are enrolled in the plans.
