“I do not want to enroll in the Instant Ink program. Can I use the starter cartridges without being required to enroll and replace with standard 910 cartridges later, or should I install the replacement cartridges initially and toss the starter cartridges?”

You are not obligated to join the HP Instant Ink service, where you pay a monthly plan to print. You can still buy ink cartridges. You can still use the ink cartridges that come with the printer. They are designed to work whether or not you choose HP Instant Ink.
