Carl, thank you for your question about this HP OfficeJet Pro 9125e! You can use any cartridge that has a genuine HP chip in it. If you enroll the printer in HP+, one of the conditions is that the printer must only use HP ink. This printer requires to that all cartridges have ink: This protects the printhead from overheating and warping. This printer also has a first page out time of as fast as 10 seconds for monochrome documents. Finally, with the HP Smart software, you can authorized another person to print to this.
