I put a GeForce 1080 into mine no problems. CPU upgrade I don't know, usually motherboards accommodate i5 and i7 both, but whether we're talking 1151 or what kind of CPU socket I don't know, and this is critically important when selecting an upgrade.

Yes you can upgrade pretty much every component piece that attaches to the mother board HP listed what the motherboard can handle and everything else above spec is at your own risk. But in short yes you can upgrade to i7 just has to meet spec of the motherboard. Hope this helps. I purchased this machine a week ago. Have already upgraded the ram and added an ssd. The cpu can be upgraded, I believe the highest end processor it will accomodate is the core i7 7700k.

It is best to buy what you need now. Why toss a perfectly good i5 and 1060 gc (over $300)?
